PROFILE

I am a specialist in hand surgery, treating injuries and disorders of the hand, wrist, forearm, shoulder, and shoulder girdle in both adults and children. My particular areas of expertise are traumatic injuries of the hand, wrist, and forearm – such as fractures and tendon and nerve injuries and their surgical treatment – as well as degenerative and inflammatory conditions of the wrist and hand.

In my consultations I place great importance on a calm, unhurried encounter and thorough examination. I draw up a clear, individual treatment plan for each patient and choose the treatment approach that best supports their everyday life and functional ability. Often conservative treatment is sufficient, but I do not hesitate to recommend surgery when the situation calls for it. I also understand the particular needs of, for example, entrepreneurs, musicians and athletes when planning treatment.

It is important to me that patients have a clear overall picture of their situation and treatment options. I work closely with occupational therapists, physiotherapists, orthopaedic cast technicians, and occupational health physicians to ensure that recovery progresses smoothly and purposefully. I treat patients in collaboration with leading specialists in orthopaedics and hand surgery to ensure the best possible outcome.

I perform surgery at Pihlajalinna’s Kuopio, Joensuu, and Savonlinna units. Smaller procedures, such as trigger finger and carpal tunnel releases, can also be carried out at Ikioma in Mikkeli.

In addition to my hand surgery consultations, I work in accident and emergency care and treat injuries of all kinds, regardless of the affected area.

In addition to in-person appointments, you can also book a telephone or remote consultation with me through customer service.
